The best care for their whole life. Heartland follows the AVMA and AAHA recommendation of exams twice a year. We encourage our clients to be engaged in their pet’s health plan because pets age faster than us. Our goal to examine your pet every 6 months is to provide the opportunity to:
  • Catch disease early
  • Discuss changes in behavior
  • Monitor for earlier onset or changes

Wellness Visit #1

Our doctors perform a nose-to-tail physical exam on each patient to assess how to best address your pet’s health needs

We make vaccines recommendations based the guidelines provided by AAHA & your pet’s lifestyle. These tailored protocols ensure that your pet is as protected as possible for infectious diseases.

Did you know that your pet can be carrying parasites that can be passed to you and your family? This is why we screen twice a year in order to keep the entire family protected.

Here in Kentucky it never gets cold enough for long enough to truly eliminate the threat of these diseases to your pet. We test for these diseases once a year, so we can treat your pet and start them on the correct preventative care plan.

Diseases in your pet can be caught even before signs start showing up at home. We will perform wellness testing on your pet, so our doctors have a healthy baseline for your pet and can effectively monitor for any changes before clinical signs begin to show at home.

Heartland carries 2 heartworm preventative products in the hospital: ProHeart & Milbehart, but we always take time during each wellness appointment to discuss options and find the right fit for your pet to keep them protected.

Heartland carries Bravecto in the hospital as it is the best flea & tick preventative option, but we always take time during each wellness appointment to discuss other options and find the right fit for your pet to keep them protected.

Love deserves only the best. Heartland offers products to ensure that your pet is protected from heartworms, intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks year round. For heartworm & intestinal parasites prevention, we offer ProHeart 6, Milbehart, or Senergy. For flea & tick prevention we offer Bravecto or Senergy. All other veterinary prescription products can be ordered through our online pharmacy and will be approved for current patients.
